Training course for history teachers and future teachers of the 5th and 6th secondary
Colonization and Decolonization of the Congo
in Dutch.
This training course aims to update the participant's knowledge of the Colonization and Decolonization periods by presenting them with the latest interpretations and encouraging them to pose questions to specialized historians and researchers. Participants will also discover the educational potential of the Museum to address the colonial period with students.
The course is organized into three main parts:
- a presentation on colonial Congo, the Royal Museum for Central Africa and international historiography.
- Guided tour of the History Room in the company of historians/researchers specialized in the colonization and decolonization of the Congo.
- Presentation of the workshop "Face à face", stéréotypes et préjugés (‘Face to Face, Stereotypes and Prejudices’) for older high school students (secondaire supérieur).
The day will close with a debate and participant comments and questions.
