Pre-workshop pack: advantages

 -  Arouse the pupils' interest in Africa and in the workshop's theme
 -  Present and prepare the most important themes developed in the workshop
 -  Stimulate the pupils' active participation during the workshop by appropriate preparation.

Follow-up: advantages

 - Reinforce the experience gained during the workshop
 - Allow the development of a larger project that can be extended into the weeks following the visit to the Museum

Also if you don’t participate in a workshop or training course you can purchase these publications at the museum shop or order via reservations@africamuseum.be

Currently there are four publications/files available.

  • The old python and the three chickens
Book and CD for children from 4 to 8 years old.

Seven illustrated stories help you get to know Africa better. For each day of the week there is a short story about an incident which has occurred in or round the village. The book is based around the adventures of an old python and three innocent chickens.
The text and photos at the back of the book lead you to the Savanna and the Rain Forest and a real African village on the banks of the river.
You can listen to the tales and a selection of the African songs on the CD.
Free with every reservation for the Slik! (in French or in Dutch)workshop – Available in the museum shop: 12 €.
  • Nianga
Workbook for children from 7 to 12 years old

A map, short texts and photos tell tales of daily life in a Congolese village.
With the help of a series of drawings children are also given the chance to write the story of Mbua, the first dog to arrive in the village of Nianga.
Free if you participate in the workshop The museum unmasked - Available in the museum shop: 1.50.
  • Africa for tiny tots

Together they present an image of the natural riches and cultural diversity of the African continent. 7 practical worksheets suggest activities which the teacher can get going with straight away in the classroom.
A CD-ROM with photos illustrates the various themes of the file.

  •  Congo : colonisation and decolonisation (available in November 2011)
