Donations
The museum is a world centre for research and the spread of knowledge. Acquiring and managing collections are part of the basic tasks of this institution focussing on Africa.
Regularly the museum is approached by people who are considering making a donation, for instance, because they want to ensure that their private collection ends up in good hands. These may be historic documents, ethnographic items or scientific collections.
Given the size of its collections and current ethical and legal considerations, the RMCA is very selective when it comes to accepting donations. Museum staff members are not authorised to receive donations in the museum's name and such donations are automatically rejected.
You can find more information on the RMCA's acquisitions policy on our webpage Collections - acquisitions.
If you want to find out more about what is eligible for donation, then send an e-mail to acquisitions.gift@africamuseum.be
