UNCENSORED
Vivid tales from behind the scenes
(23 September 2011 – 31 August 2012)
At the end of 2012 the museum will close its doors for major renovation works.
The expo UNCENSORED. Vivid tales from behind the scenes is the last exhibition before the work is carried out and your final chance to visit a ‘colonial museum’.
By means of a trail passing through the rooms and cellars, with 30 stop-offs on the way, we regale you with anecdotes from the museum, known and unknown tales and all sorts of things you couldn’t possibly have known before:
- What is a Red Indian doing in a museum about Africa?
- How was the large elephant killed and stuffed?
- Where does the buffalo’s coat come from?
- Why is only a tiny selection of the museum’s collection on display?
- Have you heard about the museum’s mummies?
Each stop leaves from a striking fact and illustrates the wealth of the collections, the scientific research, the history of the museum … whilst at the same time serving as an opportunity to display the objectives and motives for innovation.
Come and visit our exhibition as of 23 September 2011.
