  • Is the museum going to become a very modern complex?
The current museum building is a protected heritage building. It will be renovated extensively in a way that adheres as closely as possible to the original design. A new welcome pavilion, with a contemporary design that blends in well with the park and the museum building, will be built next to it.

  • Why was the museum closed?
Renovation works will be extensive, so closing the museum partially and proceeding room by room would be too inconvenient for the public and hamper the museum’s operations.

  • How will the works be conducted?
The first phase of the renovation project will be the construction of the welcome pavilion.

  • Where will the museum pieces go during the renovation?
Most of the pieces will return to the collections they belong to and remain onsite. A few specific collections have moved to other storage spaces outside the museum grounds.
But many of the museum pieces will remain visible to the public, with many of our treasures appearing in other museums.
