The Third International Conference on Bantu Languages brought together not only specialists in different domains of the study of Bantu languages, but also researchers interested in the (pre)history of Bantu-speaking populations.

The majority of papers presented during the conference addressed one of the following three themes:
(i) grammaticalization and semantic change
(ii) historical linguistics and multidisciplinary approaches to the history of Bantu-speaking peoples
(iii) the noun phrase.
