Collections Ethnomusicology
  • The collection of musical recordings (Edison rolls, tapes, audio cassettes, CDs and discs) comprises some 6,000 hours. The oldest collection dates from 1910 (rolls - Hutereau). Most of the collection consists of recordings made on site in Sub-Saharan Africa.

  • The collection of musical instruments (organology) comprises 8,000 objects, most of them from the Congo. It is the largest collection in the world of musical instruments from Central Africa.
