Collections Ethnomusicology

The collection of musical recordings (Edison rolls, tapes, audio cassettes, CDs and discs) comprises some 6,000 hours. The oldest collection dates from 1910 (rolls - Hutereau). Most of the collection consists of recordings made on site in Sub-Saharan Africa.
I. De Keyser
The collection of musical instruments (organology) comprises 8,000 objects, most of them from the Congo. It is the largest collection in the world of musical instruments from Central Africa.
