Mission Statement
In synergy with other disciplines, the Colonial History Section conducts and facilitates research, develops scientific tools, and organizes exhibitions concerning the contemporary history of Central Africa and especially that of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Section focuses on the history of exploration, cultural history, arts and heritage, and the sciences and museum surveys during colonization and decolonization. The relationships between history, memory and contemporary creativity constitutes a new focus of research and activity.
Objectives
- Document, open and promote the collections
- Facilitate international research and offer quality scientific services
- Conduct research and participate in multi- and interdisciplinary research
- Encourage synergy with national and international research centres
- Create and participate in projects
- Encourage partnerships with Central Africa
- Organize and participate in exhibitions and scientific events
- Participate in sustainable development by facilitating training, awareness-building and educational activities
