2. Songs of the Okapi Forest. Mbuti, Nande and Pakombe
Volume 2 in the series Anthologie de la musique congolaise - RDC
Located in the heart of the Ituri Forest (northeastern DRC), near the geographic centre of Africa, the Okapi Forest is both the home of Congo's mysterious and enigmatic rain forest giraffe, the okapi, and a major cultural and musical crossroads.
These recordings were made with three groups that share the southern Ituri region. Music plays an important role in both defining their traditions and in the relationship between them.
