10. Agricultural economics

p-landbouw

This hall is dedicated to agricultural and forestry economics. It emphasises the ‘economic’ products Europe imported from Central Africa.

Several display cases still have wax fruit and crops that had to give a scientific image of tropical varieties. For instance, cacao, which was mainly grown during the colonisation, as were cotton and coffee. Cacao is currently mainly exported by West African countries like Ghana and the Ivory Coast.

The hall is now largely used for temporary exhibitions.
