This is the museum’s main entrance. Here you can buy an admission ticket and borrow an audio guide or buy a children’s activity book.

The room itself says a lot about the period and the image of colonialism in the early 20th century. For instance, allegoric niche statues are an ode to colonisation. They evoke European feelings of superiority towards so-called primitive tribes. The floor of this prestigious entrance hall displays the star of the royal crown, symbolising Congo Free State.
