The Royal Museum for Central Africa has a network of libraries, consisting of a central library and specialised sublibraries. The sublibraries can be found according to discipline in the museum’s various departments.

Central library

Collections
The central library has general publications (monographs and periodicals) on African Human- and Natural Sciences
and also houses the library collection of the Ethnography and the Ethnosociology and Ethnohistory Section. The Documentation Centre of the Human Sciences Department has a digitised database:  http://societies.africamuseum.be

Researchers and scientists can consult publications whilst in the library. The borrowing of publications is not permitted but it is possible to make photocopies or scans.
For questions relating to a specific scientific discipline you are best advised to contact the corresponding department or library.

Digital catalogues
The RMCA is part of LIBISnet, the largest network of Belgian library catalogues. This network is in turn referenced in Unicat, the Belgian collective catalogue (www.unicat.be) and in the Belgian Federal Catalogue (www.bib.belgium.be).
Please note: It is currently only possible to consult catalogues from the Ethnography, Ethnomusicology, Ethnosociology/Ethnohistory, Linguistics, Geomorphology and Wood Biology Departments via LIBIS through this link: http://opac.libis.be.

Catalogues from the other departments can be accessed via the ‘sublibraries’ page or on the ‘library’ page of the relevant research department.
