EJT: 1000 new species!

The European Journal of Taxonomy (EJT) has published its 1000th new species! Pristimantis boucephalus sp. nov. is a minute species of frog from Peru, described by Edgar Lehr (Illinois Wesleyan University) and his colleagues, measures less than 15 mm and has been nicknamed the “Bigheaded Rubber Frog”.

This milestone represents an important achievement for EJT, a fully refereed, international, Open Access journal, which was founded upon the conviction that descriptive taxonomic research is essential to safeguard our planet’s biodiversity. The RMCA is one of the founders of EJT.

So here’s to the next 1000 new species descriptions... and beyond!
