As part of Krokuskriebels
On the last Sunday of the spring half term holiday you will be able to take part in numerous activities from the museum in its 2012 incarnation! On the programme music and dance demonstrations, performances, guided tours and workshops, creative activities and naturally a visit of the museum and its cellars. The action takes place in the museum halls where the first signs of the restoration are already visible: new arrangements with the original glass cabinets are being tried out, there is research into the authentic colours of the museum and some of the original decorative murals have been laid bare, …
- Gumboot dance: demonstrations of this body percussion dance which originated in the mines of Johannesburg (in Dutch and French).
- Sabar: demonstrations of this popular music and dance style from Senegal, known over here thanks to artists such as Youssou N’Dour.
- Sadio Cissokho: live music on the West African 21-string kora harp.
- Rhythm Session: family workshop in which you discover the way in which African instruments have won over world stages, before then getting a chance to have a go yourself.
- The story of the world: moving and compelling performance with text, music and dance (in Dutch and French).
- Familiarising yourself with African cuisine and doing odd jobs with Mama Leona.
- Play studio: specially for the little ones.
- Word flow: storytelling circuit round the museum (in Dutch and French).
- Discover the museum from the attic to the cellar: architectural guided tour in which you are the first to follow the route the future museum circuit will take (in Dutch and French).
