Image number: 1971
Feature : waterfall with water vapour cloud
Grouping : forests and trees
Discipline : meteorology
Year : 1995
Locality : Victoria falls, Zambezi
Country : Zimbabwe
Region - tribe : Zambezi valley
Physiographic region : Kalahari sand plateau
Notice : The falls, named after the former English queen Victoria, are the worlds largest. Wide 1,6 km and 120 m high. The cloud of water vapour creates particular wet conditions close to the falls, giving rise to tropical (cloud) forest vegetation on the plateau edge to the right of the picture, more luxureous than the normal miombo forest in this region.
