Grouping : towns and environment
Discipline : geomorphology
Year : 2007
Locality : Ntahangwa
Country : Burundi
Region - tribe : Bujumbura
Physiographic region : Rift-Tanganyika
Notice : The Ntahangwa river comes from the rift shoulder and is characterized by increasing flooding, even flash floods, which lead to some vertical and more especially lateral erosion. By lateral migration, the river endangers the houses in this expansion zone of Bujumbura. In the undercut river bank, old river deposits are visible. They form an old river terrace.
