Image number: 161
Feature : granitic dome
Grouping : weathering
Discipline : geomorphology
Year : 1970
Locality : Jos
Country : Nigeria
Region - tribe : Jos Plateau
Physiographic region : West-African rain belt
Notice : Granitic rocks often offer particular landforms, related to cristalinisation and cooling structures. Dome forms are often attributed to exfoliation, resulting from pressure release when the rock is liberated from its overburden by erosion. Possibly, the dome form reflects the morphologie of the granitic batholith roof.
