Notice : 'Spheroidal weathering' indicates the phenomenon that flake-like laminations occur at the interface between the weathered and the unweathered rock (weathering base, onion skin weathering). In strongly fissured rocks, onion skin weathering occurs around 'core stones', isolated pieces of fresh rock, surrounded by weathered rocks.
