Image number: 2087
Feature : valley
Grouping : towns and environment
Discipline : geomorphology
Year : 2007
Locality : Nyakivumba, Bujumbura
Country : Burundi
Region - tribe : Bujumbura
Physiographic region : Rift-Tanganyika
Notice : The Nyakivumba receives a lot of supplementary discharge as a result of new road building, upslope. The river incision steepens the slopes which are often affected by instabilities and mass movements. This is a typical degraded landscape in the vicinity of Bujumbura, where for several reasons soil and water conservation measures are not taken.
