Voices of the hills
Musical instruments from Rwanda and Burundi
(1 July - 7 October 2012)
2012 marks the fiftieth year since Rwanda and Burundi became independent states.
On this occasion, the Museum is proud to present representative pieces from its vast collection of musical instruments.
Two showcases (one for each country) are now found in the Comparative Ethnography gallery (gallery 21). A third showcase presents the museum's scientific activities in Rwanda and Burundi.
The exhibition was created at the initiative of African associations, whose ideas were relayed by the COMRAF (RMCA African Associations Committee). It places Rwanda and Burundi in the spotlight to commemorate their 50 years of independence.
