Julie Duquesne Watelet de la Vinelle grew up in Brussels before moving to Tervuren. She began painting when she was very young and studied at the Academy of Watermael-Boitsfort and later at St Luc in Brussels.
Her paintings and ceramics are characterised by simple and purified forms in combination with a frenzy of colours. She also experiments with video-installations and performances. Fertility and child-bearing are recurrent themes in her work. She expresses our natural instinct to create new life and to live in close relation with our body.
