Jorge Kata Núñez was born in Chile in 1953. When he came to the Netherlands at the age of 24 he developed his interest in the art of wall painting. In the whole of the Netherlands he has created over 60 murals for public institutions, schools, universities or just on walls in public places. In the beginning he primarily created murals which appealed to people’s feelings of solidarity.
Jorge Kata Nuñez does not like eccentricity; he prefers to live and to practice his art as an everyday man who combines his commitment to the lot of humanity with the magic of art as a craft. At present Kata works with themes which convey his care and love for nature. One of his most recent important works can be found at the Vogelklas Karel Schot in Rotterdam-South. It is a colourful 25 metre long mural in homage to the bird and nature.
In 1994 Kata exhibited for the first time in his home town of Valdivia. He then created a number of murals in Chile. His paintings and lino cuts are exhibited in a number of galleries in different countries.
