You can’t not see them. If you’ve passed by the site of the Royal Museum for Central Africa (RMCA) in Tervuren recently, you’ll have noticed the construction fences around it. Yes, the museum is currently closed for a thorough renovation.
Yet we haven’t quite closed shop. The scientific institute continues its research activities as usual in Tervuren, while educational and cultural activities and exhibitions will take place thanks to
the 'Pop-up museum'. You’ll see us appear now and then, here and there!
- Masterpieces around the world
The museum is closed, but our masterpieces can be seen elsewhere almost right away, in prestigious exhibits in Los Angeles, Paris, or New York.
- Temporary exhibitions
We provide Belgian museums the possibility of developing exhibits using pieces from the RMCA collections, with or without their own pieces.
- The ‘Wink from the museum’ project
Famous pieces including the elephant, the pirogue, and the giraffe will show up in unexpected places.
Pop-up Educational Activities
During the renovation, our educational activities will continue at our partner institutions, after cooperation agreements were signed with the Museum of Natural Sciences, BOZAR, and BELvue museum.
Other Pop-up Activities
Many activities, in Tervuren or elsewhere, will be organized for groups, adults, families, and children.
