The dance costumes that the initiates wear are that of young men in the days preceding their circumcision. Among them are the kangalas, a group of specialised dancers carrying ritual lances.

Cérémonie de la circoncision chez les Bwaka.
Trois "Kangala" (genre de maître de danse, chaque groupe de "Wi-Gaza" ayant son chef). Ils ont en main une lance en bois très léger, garnie de plumes de poules blanches, la "Sere-Kangala" ("sere" = lance). Cette lance est garnie à la partie supérieure d'un jeu de 3 ou 4 clochettes en fer ("Bembe" = clochette). Sur la tête ils portent une coiffure faite en peau de singe. Au cou, aux bras, aux hanches, aux genoux, garnitures de perles. Un pagne d'écorce d'arbre battue et enduit de "ngula". C'est la tenue de "Yolla-Gaza" ("Yolla" = danse).
