Notice : | The stratified depostits in the cave have a mixed origin. The fine dust layers are aeolian deposits, blown in to fill partly an old rock shelter. In the deepest parts the ceiling still shows solutional forms and speleothems like the stalactite, visible. Wind blown dust layers alternate with rockfall, produced by spalling and flaking off of the ceilings more to the entrance. Belgian Middle Egypt Prehistoric Project KULeuven. |
