| Notice : | Some horizons in the Thebes limestone are 'cliff forming': they break off along vertical pre-existing joints when attacked by lateral erosion. Other horizons do not display this vertical jointing and the eroded surface is inclined at some 30-35°. Rockfall from the upper part of the cliff accumulates upon the latter and might mislead the observer to consider the lower part of the cliff as a pure scree slope. |
