Translation:
large open bowl, used as a kind of mortar for mashing (the pestle being of wood used in a rotary manner while the women sit on the ground. The sihiso have a secondary use when they have a hole in them caused by the shimusana or little pestle. Three together inverted make a kind of stove, on which a pot may rest for cooking purposes, the fire being lighted in the space between. They then cease to be sihiso and are maseku.
