Exhibition project and workshop "The Congolese Society. History and Memory"
The exhibition project “The Congolese Society. History and Memory” has been conceived under the initiative of the Kinshasa University (UNIKIN) with the collaboration of the Institute of the national Museums of Congo (IMNC, Kinshasa), the Lubumbashi University (UNILU) and the National Archives of Congo The MRAC objective in this project is to help and support UNIKIN’s achievement, this exhibition being organized as a teaching tool for reinforcing the DRC secondary education pedagogues’ and teachers’ training. With this exhibition, the Congolese society, especially audiences from secondary education and university, will be given the opportunity of taking again a grip on its memory and its history, while increasing the Congolese society’s awareness of the diversity and the richness of its history, its creativity and its heritage, whether material or immaterial. It will help the general public to stand aloof from rumours, stereotypes or misrepresentations. This should be achieved if understandable historical facts & information are provided to the public seeking a peaceful social togetherness. In this project, the RMCA acts as a methodological and technique advisor, aiming at setting up an educational tool - "the Congolese Society. History and Memory" exhibition - hoping it will meet the Congolese Society needs. The RMCA is not in charge of the exhibition scientific content which is entirely under the responsibility and expertise of its DRC partners. Two workshops were organised in Paris (EHESS 2007) and Kinshasa (UNIKIN, 2007) with the Congolese partners. The team renounced temporary to the project.
