PBI Oonopidae

The goblin spider Planetary Biodiversity Inventory (PBI)

The Section Invertebrates participates in the PBI project “The megadiverse, microdistributed spider family Oonopidae”. This multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary project aims to describe all 2500 species of the spider family Oonopidae (goblin spiders). The more than 40 investigators involved in the project are producing taxonomic monographs, species web pages, interactive keys, molecular data and phylogenetic analyses. This information is disseminated electronically via the PBI website. The RMCA is responsible for the inventory of the Afrotropical representatives of the family.
