Whilst preparing a new geological and structural map of the "Lesse et Lomme" Park (Han-sur-Lesse, Rochefort and Jemelle), we took the opportunity of re-examining the local hercynian tectonic of the south side of the Dinant
bassin. The principal tectonic elements occuring are :
-major longitudinal structures (N-S or NNW-SSE compression) with folds of several
tectonic types; normal, reverse and thrust faults.
-minor and late transversal structures, some of which have been caused by a late east-west compression.
Details have been collected concerning the Lamsoul fault, which continues westward to Eprave, and the Forrières fault, which has been followed as far as Han-sur-Lesse. The tectonic significance of the "Klippe du Bois de Niau" has been surveyed.
