The climatic response of Burkea and Pterocarpus from Namibia was analysed by means of a dendrochronological approach. Growth response to rainfall appeared to be positive, but a time-lag in the reaction occurred between the investigated sites. The westernmost site shows a distinct growth decrease during El Nino years, which are generally dry in southern Africa.
