Image number: | 2089 |
Feature : | valley |
Grouping : | river erosion |
Discipline : | geomorphology |
Year : | 2007 |
Locality : | Nyakivumba, Bujumbura |
Country : | Burundi |
Region - tribe : | Bujumbura |
Physiographic region : | Rift-Tanganyika |
Notice : | The Nyakivumba receives a lot of supplementary discharge as a result of new road building, upslope. The river gully incision steepens the slopes which are often affected by instabilities and mass movements. This is a typical degraded landscape in the vicinity of Bujumbura, where for several reasons soil and water conservation measures are not taken anymore as the belt is invaded by new houses of the city of Bujumbura. |
