Persons with reduced mobility
The welcome pavilion is fully accessible to persons with reduced mobility.
Important: Wheelchairs and walkers must be reserved in advance via the email address reservations@africamuseum.be.
Persons with visual impairments
- To reach the museum using public transport, follow this route.
- Service animals are allowed in the museum.
- Elevators are equipped with voice technology and Braille buttons.
- You can use the Faro app for the audio-guide Experts talking.
- You can book a bespoke guided tour using this link.

Persons with hearing loss
- The museum galleries have printed informative texts in Dutch, French, English, and German.
- During your visit, you can use the Faro app to explore the Unrivalled Art gallery and take the Provenance Tour.

Persons with autism
Sensory maps and a visual road map have been developed in collaboration with ‘Toerisme voor Autisme’. These two tools can be used to prepare a visit to the museum.

For infants and younger children
Visitors with infants or younger children can use adapted facilities:
• handrails adjusted for the height of a child
• lowered toilets (only in the welcome pavilion)
• diaper changing tables
• breastfeeding space: in the museum’s small rotunda, with armchair, diaper changing table, and

Miscellaneous
- The texts and videos found in the AfricaMuseum galleries are designed for visitors aged 14 years and up.
- Special rates apply to persons with reduced mobility.

Basic rules
- AfricaMuseum is a non-smoking area.
- Dogs are not allowed in the museum.
- No food or beverages are allowed in the museum galleries.
- Backpacks and large bags must be left in the lockers located at level -2 of the welcome pavilion. You will need a €0.50 or €1 coin which will be returned automatically when you open the locker to collect your belongings.
- No flash photography allowed.
- You must obtain permission to take photographs or sound or video recordings for professional purposes.
