The building is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
In order to guarantee a smooth and safe service, we apply the following measures:
- Consultation should be individual if possible, due to our relatively small reading room.
- Requests should be as precise as possible. Use the archive database to provide precise references. See also Source guide to the history of colonisation.
- If necessary, you can take photographs yourself (without flash), with the usual rules that these are for personal and scientific use only and not for publication.
- Requests for consultation should reach us at least two working days in advance. This gives us time to prepare the requested documents.
- You cannot request additional documents the day itself.
- Should you want to obtain photographical reproductions of archival documents (whether or not for publication), you can fill out the form on the Photographic reproductions page.

A collection manager will welcome you.
The building is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
In order to guarantee a smooth and safe service, we apply the following measures:
- Consultation should be individual if possible, due to our relatively small visitors’ room. Consultation always takes place under the supervision of a collection manager who will handle the objects.
- Requests should be as precise as possible. Use the collections’ database to provide precise references:
- You can consult part of the database online
- or you can consult the entire database after making an appointment by mail via crc@africamuseum.be. (Please wait for our confirmation mail)
- If necessary, you can take photographs yourself (without flash), with the usual rules that these are for personal and scientific use only and not for publication.
- Requests for consultation should reach us at least three weeks in advance. This gives us time to prepare the requested works and arrange supervision.
- You cannot request to see other objects the day itself.
- Should you want to obtain photographical reproductions (whether or not for publication), you can fill out the form on the Photographic reproductions page.
