Note on the defence of the DEA thesis of M. Lewis Ngoy Kalumba

On 27 December 2022, at the University of Lubumbashi (UNILU/DRC), the public defence of the of the DEA dissertation of M. Lewis Ngoy Kalumba, a student who benefited from the support and guidance of the framework agreement projects between the RMCA and the Belgian Development Cooperation (DGD), "Mbisa Congo" I (2013-2018) & II (2019-2023), in particular with regard to his study visits to Belgium (2017 and 2019) and the fieldwork.

The SNSB-ZSM project, "Exploiting the Genomic Record of Living Biota to Reconstruct the Landscape Evolution of South Central Africa" (2015-2019), supported his local DEA (Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies) studies at the UNILU, in particular. His dissertation was entitled: “A systematic study of the genus Kneria (Gonorhynchiformes: Kneriidae) from the Luansa and Luongo rivers (Bangweulu-Mweru ecoregion: DR Congo-Republic of Zambia)”. This was received with distinction in the presence of the following jury members (all from UNILU): Prof. Kasongo Aseke (president); Prof. Emmanuel Abwe (secretary); Prof. Auguste Chocha Manda (director); and Prof. Bauchet Katemo Manda, all physically present;  and Prof. Jonathan Ilunga Muledi virtually present via Teams. Thus, M. Lewis Ngoy Kalumba was proclaimed Graduate of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Renewable Natural Resources Management. Option: Biodiversity.
