Underpinning forest policy and management through research on resilience of semi-deciduous rainforests of the Congo Basin
The aim of the project proposal is contributing to the conservation of populations of timber species and a forest management aiming at an optimal carbon stock. Information on forest disturbances and forest resilience will be collected to document instruments of forest conservation. The project will focus on Pericopsis elata (Harms) Meeuwen (Fabaceae), a flagship timber species (CITES appendix II, IUCN red list) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
