SI-PALEO

Establishing Silicon Isotopes as Weathering tracers for Paleoenvironmental Studies
The SI-PALEO project aims at exploring the use of silicon isotopes in marine sediments as a proxy for past continental weathering. The main objectives are to determine the factors controlling the distribution of Si isotope ratios in sediments, and to investigate, via marine sedimentary records, the relative of impact of climate change versus human activities on past environments in the Congo Basin.
