Kuchek@school – Maison Kimia

On the occasion of 125/5 years, the museum selected several proposals by individuals and organisations from the African diaspora in Belgium. They introduce their activity and themselves.

Some 100 students are invited to a tour of the museum followed by a stand-up show featuring Afro comedians. This activity brings together the school, the museum and one of the major projects of the organisation Maison Kimia: the Kucheka Comedy Festival (Kucheka means "laughter" in Swahili).

The museum’s role, the history of Africa , colonialism, and racism will be discussed throughout the activity. With this tour and comedy show, Maison Kimia offers an enjoyable, enriching, and educational class trip for young adults.

Maison Kimia focusses its efforts on providing young people from the African diaspora with professional models of success in fields other than sports or music. We also want to entertain our community with quality events that cater to their tastes and appetites. All Afro events we organise are inclusive in nature, seeking to highlight Afro culture while attracting diverse audiences.

Maison Kimia was founded by Berthold Nsumbu, Murphy Mandiangu, and Kafu Mandiangu. Marina El-Chalouhi is the business development officer.
