The Congo Panorama 1913. Colonial illusion exposed
28.11.2025 - 27.09.2026This exhibition reflects on colonial propaganda. Original testimonies from past and present, together with surprising collections and photographs, unravel the Congo Panorama; an immense painting that flaunted at the 1913 World Fair in Ghent. It glorified Belgian realisations in Congo and depicted the young Belgian colony as an idyll - a fake news avant la lettre.

Afropea Gallery
04.10.2025 - 10.05.2026This book is dedicated to an architectural style of cattle herders, with features specific to Rwanda. Traditional constructions, consisting of houses surrounded by enclosures that define front and back courtyards, are not unique to Rwanda. They can be found in many countries and regions across Africa, particularly in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Eswatini.
Unrivalled art
This room contains four display cabinets with a significant collection of artistic production in the domain of masks, statuary, sculpted ivory and ‘utilitarian’ art. The pieces brought together here almost all come from Congo and mainly date back to the 19th and the first half of the 20th century.
