Danielle de Lame heeft in haar onderzoek altijd een werkhouding nagestreefd waarbij ze de contradicties en fragmentering van het dagelijkse leven ontcijfert, evenals de verhoudingen tussen ‘hoog' en ‘laag', de weergave van het Zelf en zijn verhouding tot de objecten, en de creatie van en het omgaan met verschillen en hiërarchieën – kortom, alles wat sociale verandering teweegbrengt. In dit interdisciplinaire volume vinden we, via verschillende tijd-ruimtelijke benaderingen, een weerspiegeling van voornoemde thema's. Men onderzoekt eveneens de aspecten die telkens opnieuw opduiken in het sociale en menswetenschappelijke debat: de ‘on-gedisciplineerdheid' en vergelijking als methodologische instrumenten, de rol van de onderzoeker ten opzichte van macht, de weergave van de ‘waarheid'. Het werk is een eerbetoon aan de intellectuele integriteit, de wetenschappelijke nauwkeurigheid en innoverende denkpistes van Danielle de Lame.

Le déchiffrage des contradictions et des fragmentations du quotidien, des rapports entre « haut » et « bas », des représentations du Soi, du rapport entre le Soi et les objets, de la création et de la gestion des différences et des hiérarchies ; en d'autres termes, de la production du changement social, a toujours été une approche privilégiée du travail de recherche de Danielle de Lame. Ce volume interdisciplinaire reflète ces thèmes à travers différentes trajectoires spatio-temporelles et questionne sur des aspects récurrents du débat en sciences sociales et en sciences humaines : l'« in-disciplinarité » et la comparaison comme outils méthodologiques, le rôle du chercheur face au pouvoir, la représentation de la ‘vérité'. Il constitue un hommage à l'intégrité intellectuelle de Danielle de Lame, à sa cohérence scientifique et à ses pistes innovatrices.

In her work, Danielle de Lame has always favoured an approach disentangling the contradiction and fragmentation of the day-to-day, relationships between ‘top' and ‘bottom', representations of the Self, ties between the Self and objects, and creation and management of differences and hierarchy – everything that comprises the production of social change. This interdisciplinary volume takes different spatio-temporal trajectories to reflect these themes and explores recurring fundamental points in human and social sciences: ‘in-disciplinarity' and comparison as methodological tools, the role of the researcher in the face of power, the representation of political and historical ‘truth'. It pays tribute to the intellectual integrity of Danielle de Lame and her scientific rigour and trailblazing endeavours.
