The world is digitising! If 2010 was the Year of Facebook (and Biodiversity of course), then 2011 will be undoubtedly the Year of Digital libraries! There is a growing trend towards digitisation of historically and culturally significant data. Museums are digitising their treasures (objects, photo’s, films and sounds), libraries and archives – books and documents, scientists – their collections. Digitisation is not just a scanning; converting information into a digital format makes it easier to preserve, access, and share.
