PESTFLY aims to assist in preventing Bactrocera dorsalis from entering the EU via Belgian trade and Belgium via spread through the EU. The project will perform additional monitoring at FASFC inspection sites using multiple traps and an additional lure, monitor alternative risk locations linked to exotic fruit waste, launch a citizen science trapping campaign to raise awareness and increase surveillance capacity, and use genomic tools to determine the origin of B. dorsalis found in Belgium, linking this to trade data and information from importers, traders and processors of exotic fruit.
