Monographs of the provinces of the DR Congo

Since 2008, the museum has led a research project on the 26 new provinces of the DR Congo. Funded by Belgian Development Cooperation, this project intends to publish a monograph for each of the new provinces.

These monographs include data on:

More information on the research project

Two publications on decentralization in DR Congo, written within the framework of the project, are available for purchase:

The volumes in the series 'Monographies des Provinces de la République démocratique du Congo' were prepared and written by numerous authors, some working in local teams in each province, others as museum researchers, and still others as scientists associated with the project. Owing to the fragmented nature of the information provided for these monographs, it was not possible to revalidate all the content. The texts and data are therefore the sole responsibility of their respective authors.

This publication project began well before the release of the first volume in 2011. Extensive coordination was necessary to meet the main objective of this series: to contribute to a deeper understanding of the country, a fundamental requirement for the development of a Congolese state restructured into 26 provinces following the promulgation of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on 18 February 2006.

The RMCA cannot be held responsible for information or opinions expressed by the authors in these volumes.
