Terms and conditions for use of website

Scope

These terms and conditions apply to the website of the Royal Museum for Central Africa (hereinafter referred to as 'RMCA') http://www.africamuseum.be on all websites that fall under the domain africamuseum.be and on the websites of the scientific projects on which the RMCA collaborates and which are hosted on the RMCA's server. These websites are hereinafter referred to as 'the Website'.

 

Purpose of the Website 

The purpose of the Website is to provide information about the activities, history, organisation and workings of the RMCA, the museum, the scientific institution and the renovation, as well as about the collections and publications of the RMCA, the scientific projects and research and the international collaboration projects in which the RMCA is involved.
The RMCA endeavours to provide the most precise and accurate information possible, but it cannot be exhaustive. All the information is given as a guide and may change over time.

 

Access to the Website. 

Use of the Website automatically implies acceptance of the terms and conditions contained in these Terms and Conditions of Use in the version published by the RMCA at the time when the user accesses the Website. 
Consequently, the user must read the Terms and Conditions of Use each time s/he intends to use the Website, since the Terms and Conditions of Use may have changed in the meantime. 
The use of certain services offered on the Website is subject to special terms and conditions which, depending on the case, may replace, supplement and/or amend these Terms and Conditions of Use. Therefore, the user must also read the corresponding specific terms and conditions thoroughly before using the aforementioned services.

The RMCA attaches great importance to the confidential treatment of the data of users of the website and to the protection of your personal data. The RMCA handles and protects your personal data in a lawful, proper and transparent manner. When processing your personal data, the RMCA complies with the law, i.e. the European Regulation no 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 on data protection (better known as the General Data Protection Regulation or the 'GDPR'), the Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data, or any other legislative decree that modifies these.

Safeguarding of the RMCA's rights

Certain areas of the Website may be reserved or subject to specific conditions. In the event of an unauthorised attempt to access that part of the Website, the RMCA may use any legal means to safeguard the integrity of the Website, in collaboration with the appropriate judicial authorities and police services. 
All users of the Website undertake to use the Website in accordance with the law and these Terms and Conditions of Use. 
The RMCA devotes particular attention to safeguarding its intellectual property rights. 
The RMCA reserves the right to take any appropriate measures to prevent or terminate the infringement of its rights, without it being able to be held liable for those measures.
